Gayyoom's
Torture
Gayyoom has been committing
inhuman and cruel acts of torture on Maldivian citizens since
he became the president in the 70's. Below are some pictures
of some well-known deaths. Many more are rumoured to have
happened, but a tight lid is kept of actual figures.
Shiyam (AK)
The fingerprint ink marks on
his thumb is proof that his untimely death occurred while in
custody, soon after he was booked at the NSS. It is strongly
believed Shiyam became another victim of the notorious NSS
under the leadership of General Gayyoom.
Abdullah Ameen
Abdullah Ameen was shot in
the head in September 2003 in the shooting of prison in mates
by NSS personel.
Hassan Eevan Naseem
Eevan Naseem was beaten to
death in September 2003 by more than 10 NSS personnel in the
Maafushi prison in Maldives. His last words were "... the
authorities have to be responsible if anything happens to me".
