The
Tony Blair story
"I came into office with high hopes for Britain's future. I leave it with
even higher hopes for Britain's future. It has
been an honour to serve it. I give my thanks to
you, the British people." Tony Blair
Tony Blair has always stood out from the crowd.
At school he drove his teachers to distraction,
constantly questioning their authority. At
university, he acted out his rock star fantasies
as the lead singer of a band. Few at that stage
would have predicted a career in the sober world
of politics, even though Blair's charisma and
ability to charm people were evident from an
early age.

Scientists
predict global warming could displace one billion people by 2050
The Maldives have a population of only about
350,000, and this population can easily be accommodated along Balochistan's
sparsely inhabited Makran Coast, which is now connected to Karachi by a new
coastal highway. The Makran Coast has some of the most beautiful beaches in the
world, which could attract a lot of tourists if beach resorts are developed
along the coast. Maldivians are experts at building world-class tourist resorts.
They have built hundreds on the islands in the Maldives, leading to a huge boom
in tourism. Indeed, tourism is the main source of income in the Maldives.

fundamental role of administering fair and independent justice and safeguarding
and protecting human rights."The report by UN special Rapporteur Dr Leandro
Despouy was presented to the Maldivian government on Wednesday. It describes a
judiciary which, "refrains from ruling against the Government," a police force

rehabilitation facilities was first acknowledged by the Maldivian government in
2003, when the National Criminal Justice Plan, 2004-2008, described, "a criminal
