Mass

The public outcry on September 19th 2003

Gayyoom's brutality was fully exposed that day and ever

opposition against him. His image of a benevolent leader

of a ruthless dictator he is. However, to this day,
people are still waiting for him change or even step

surrender his palaces and other amenities and everything
indicates that he wants to cling on to power for as long
as he can and pass the reign of power to his daughter
Dunya Maumoom. Even international political analysts

Force and Elections in the Maldives
There is growing evidence that Robert Mugabe of
Zimbabwe rigged the last presidential election to win it. Suspicions centre on a
'command centre' run in Harare by two of Mugabe's closest associates. It is said

fraud. Mugabe would have lost by 200,000 to 300,000 votes if not for this fraud.
The opposition candidate Morgan Tsavangiraiwere did better than expected despite

High
speed tourist transfer vessel explodes in mid sea
Male' - A Gulf Craft speedboat operated by Sun Travels
group for tourist transfer exploded and caught fire this
morning, reports say. The vessel was carrying 17
passengers and 3 crews, when it exploded minutes after
leaving Olhuveli Beach Resort in South Male' Atoll
heading to Male' International Airport. "Couple of
minutes after it began the 45 minute journey to the
airport, a loud bang was heard and the vessel caught
fire. In the explosion, some crew and guest were in fact
thrown into the sea, but all were rescued and brought to
Male' by Sea Plane within an hour of the incident," said
a source in Sun Travels. More than 3 people are believed
to be in intensive care at ADK Hospital whilst many
others suffered minor burns and injuries.
There has been a spate of incidents similar to this with
Gulf Craft fleet operating in the Maldives, with at
least two cases reported in the last few weeks. This
brings into question the safety and durability of this
model of speedboat, which are now built in the Maldives
by Gulf Craft in partnership with Gayyoom's top crony,
former Foreign Minister Fathulla Jameel.

The

AS he left Dhoomidho Island, the feared

are dank cells where imprisonment, torture and even murder have taken place,
according to Nasheed. more

The
Dream
By the strength of our
common endeavour, to achieve what we cannot do alone, to grant each of
us the power to realize our full potential, and the means to create for
this and future generations a community in which power, wealth and
opportunity are in the hands of the many not the few, where the respect
we receive reflect the duties we owe, so that freed from the tyranny of
poverty, ignorance and fear, we could live together in spirit of
solidarity tolerance and respect.
