The
challenge for MDP is to rebuild the nation
Some say the fruits
are already evident and available to every one, whilst
others say they see none.
Over the past 27 years Gayoom has completely destroyed
the Maldivian nation and the dreadful events in the
drama of how Maldivians were brutalized, economically
raped and denied their rights and aspirations.
Mercifully the nation, though bloodied remains
unbreakable, and there remains a "saving residue" that
will flourish again, may god give the strength to MDP to
re vitalize this beloved country of ours and will
continue to spare us for the sake of a few righteous men
and women. To rebuild this morally and economically
devastated nation, we must – it is a task that must be
done! But we must do so peacefully, without violence and
without bloodshed but be fearless in facing them under
the guidance of God's will.

The
Real Tsunami
26th December 2004 is a
disaster that most of us consider the worst in the
history of Maldives. I respectfully disagree!! I think
11th November 1978 was the the worst disaster. A
disaster that we haven't yet over come. The day that
Maumoon came to power. The "Real Tsunami" in our lives.

Reform in Maldives - Voice of Maldives to become a
company like STO
Male'- Reliable sources within the government
have confirmed that Voice of Maldives (VOM) is to be
changed to a company owned by the government like STO.
This is apparently a step taken by Gayyoom to prove that
he is serious on reform yet his efforts to control the
media even today is quite startling. Making VOM a
government owned company or keeping it as part of the
Information Ministry is pretty much the same.

Gayyoom's
grandson not attending Islam classes
Male'- According to reliable sources in Iskandhar
School, Gayyoom's grandson is not attending Islam
classes on the request from the Royal Family of Gayyoom.
Sources say that this is because Gayyoom's grandson gets
scared when topics of Heaven and Hell are taught in the
class.
Coming from a wannabe Arab Sheikh, this is quite strange
said a teacher. Children are suppose to learn about
their religion from a young age and that is what Islam
teaches us.
For someone who appears to be concerned about protecting
Islam in Maldives, this is quite a turnaround from
reality. The question remains whether Gayyoom really is
a true believer of Islam because if he was he would not
be banning his own children from learning about their
faith.

In
response to "SHE : just a place to siphon donor funds."
In the article "SHE: just
a place to siphon donor funds.", the writer has
mentioned that the primary objective of SHE is to combat
Thalassemia in Maldives. Please note that the Infant
Mortality Rate (IMR) in Maldives is 55 per 1000 live
births. This means that out of every 1000 babies born,
55 die before they pass 12months within an year
Also please note that the Maldivian Government quotes a
figure far less than UNICEF at 14 per 1000 live births
in the year 2003. The UNICEF IMR figures for Sri Lanka
is 13 per 1000 live births. I would rely on the UNICEF
figures.

Scientists:

Sumatran-Andaman earthquake that generated deadly
tsunamis show the event created the longest fault

observed, according to three reports by an international
group of seismologists published Thursday in the journal

"Normally, a small earthquake might last less than a
second; a moderate sized earthquake might last a few
seconds. This earthquake lasted between 500 and 600
seconds (at least 10 minutes)," said Charles Ammon,
associate professor of geosciences at Penn State
