What's
with Raagundaa?
Over the past few days and more specifically since
Golhaabo made Buruma Gasim his Finance Minister, Golhaabo's brother - Raangondi
Raajaa - has been in a huff and is reportedly not even going to his office.
Sources within Dhivehi Rundinge Pary (DRP) have confirmed that Raagondaa is very
upset about not getting the Finance portfolio and even more upset about the fact
that Gasim is now the principle player of the DRP campaign to retain Golhaabo in
power. more

Gayyoom's
Militia hunting down reformists in Thinadhoo
Thinadhoo - Sources in the island have confirmed
that Gayyoom's militia - the Star Force - has been hunting down key reformists
in the island and searching homes as well. According to eyewitnesses, Gayyoom's
militia barges into home in the middle of the night in their full Anti-Nuclear
kit fully armed and they force search home without any warrant or permission.
This is obviously an illegal act by Gayyoom.

Power and Interest News Report
Growing
Signs of Unrest in the Maldives
The Maldivian government's use of excessive force in
mid-August to quell demonstrations by opposition
activists demanding democratic reforms indicates that
its commitment to establishing multi-party democracy in
the country remains weak. There is a danger that its
foot dragging on democratic reform and the suppression
of its secular-moderate opponents could clear the way
for assertion of hard-line Islamists in the country.

Election
Strategy For Gayyoom
Gayyoom appears to
be currently in the process of preparing for elections
to show his sincerity with the reform program, mainly
to the international community. It is like having a
constitution but not really bothering about it unless he
thinks it has a ceremonial advantage, like wearing a new
kind of cloth or display his new car or Rolex watch.
Party politics will be much the same as long as he
remains in power. We are now seeing hints of that as MDP
is sidelined by his propaganda and illegal instructions.

Blast from the past
Know
the Devil in Man, Who is the Real Gayyoom?
He came to power as a
modern-day saviour promising equality, justice, freedom, prosperity, cultural
and religious revival. From then on if he wanted to be a man praised by sincere
hearts of his people, if he desired to be an admired modern day father of a
country, if he hoped to be a man who aimed to leave a legacy where coming
generations revere him, if he wished at least to be a benevolent dictator his
was all those where men of discerning mind aspire to become great.

Farish's mother in law critically ill and being flown to
Singapore tonight
Male' International Airport - Sources in
the airport have confirmed that Farish Maumoon's father
in law has been whisked to the airport amid great
security to be flown to Singapore tonight. It is
believed that his mother in law is critically ill and
needs urgent medical attention, which obviously is not
available in the Maldives, thanks to Farish's Father.
The electricity in the airport was
cut-off during this operation which made some people
believe that it was in fact Golhaabo but sadly it is
not. We will bring more details as and when we get them.
Latest Update - Abdulla Shahid's (former
Executive Secretary and now State Minister) father Moosa
Jameel is the one who was taken to the airport in an
emergency. It coincided with the trip of His Highness
Prince Farish Maumoon who is taking his mother-in-law
for a non-critical medical reports our sources.

Dictator
Gayyoom's next move
Maldives is a very small country even in absolute terms.
In terms of territory, population and wealth but it is a
sovereign nation that has existed for hundreds if not
thousands of years. As a member of the United Nation, it
also enjoys the great many benefits of being a member of
the global community. It is therefore essential that
Maldives play by the rules of the world, in dealing with
it's people and providing them with life's essential
needs, after all, each country and it's wealth (as well
as it's debt) belongs to it's people and not just to
those who govern it.

Letter to Gayyoom
It
will be an honour to be a prisoner of conscience
First of all, I hope this letter finds you and your
royalty still in power though the future of your power
is quite uncertain I hear. We have voted you to be in
control of this small island nation in the Indian Ocean,
for the last 27 years. What we believe is that it is a
constitutional right for every citizen to reveal their
opinions about your "dictatorship". If I decided to
deliver this letter to you via your committed puppets,
this letter would end up in their junk inbox and I will
end up in Jail, but you know what, it will be an honour
to serve a jail term as a prisoner of conscience and I
want to join the great list of Maldivians who have
achieved that proud status.
