Opinion
A
lie repeated often enough becomes the truth
I have a confession to make. Last night when I went and
queued outside the People's Majlis, I was scared. Not
scared of what the Police were going to do, but I was
afraid that not enough people would show up to show that
they care what kind of laws get promulgated by the
Zaeem's puppets who are an absolute majority in the
People's Majlis. But obviously, I was wrong.

Yoosey
and Suzeyn... the future of Maldives?
Time and time again we see
people like Comedian Yoosey and Footballer Suzeynu being obstacles to the much
needed change in the Maldives. I want to look at the ins and outs of this debate
and establish an argument as to why on earth is our nation suffering as a result
of two low lives like these.

Protest
is an effective means of creating change
Protest isn't
always the best method of changing the world but it can
be quite useful under the right circumstances. It gives
a voice to a cause. People who are upset can show that
they desire change. Demonstrations also inform people
about topics they wouldn't otherwise recognizing. (Good
ol' fashioned consciousness-raising.) visit

Maldives, Sri Lanka and
the "India Factor"
There is no record of when
the first settlers arrived in the Maldives. It is
thought that an original Dravidian population from South
India settled here as early as the 4th century BC, and
that two millennia ago a second wave of settlers, Aryans
from India and Ceylon, eventually dominated the islands.
The Maldivian language, Divehi, is Indo-Aryan in origin,
and Buddhism was the religion here till AD 1153, when
the king was converted to Islam by a travelling Moroccan
saint and the entire country adopted the Muslim
religion.
