Mohamed Nasheed (Anni), Chairman of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has reaffirmed his intention to return to the Maldives from exile. Speaking from London yesterday, Anni said “I will not falter in returning home even though they [the Maldivian police] might arrest and torture me”. more

 One and Only Kanuhura carrying out illegal reclamation
Confirmed reports are coming in that the One and Only Kanuhura in Lhaviyani Atoll is illegally carrying out a massive reclaiming project that even dwarfs the controversial reclamation project carried out by Reethi Rah last year. It has already devoured the nearby deserted island already and the plans are to increase the original island by up to four times its original size. The red line shows the enlargement area. more

 Dhoni on fire near Dhoonidhoo
9:35pm >> A dhoni carrying diesel, petrol and kerosene has caught fire near Dhoonidhoo. Five people were onboard, all of whom had serious injuries. This Dhoni named "Atlanta" is from A.Mahibadhoo island. The owner of the Dhoni is Moosafulhu and it supply fuel to Ari Atoll.

Accoriding to the family members of the injured, a problem in the engine lead to the fire outbreak which later spread to the whole dhoni. Among the injured are Mohamed(45), Hassan fulhu(33)( brother of the owner), and one dhoni crew and Mohamed Isham (19).
