Please, save us from Dictator Gayyoom!!!

We have been living under a despotic, nepotistic dictator for more than two decades. Gayyoom not only deprived us of our basic rights but also killed and tortured our fellow Maldivians and had been involved in it both directly and indirectly.

Once, his target was the scholars of Islam, who criticized his abuse of religion to stay in power and the misleading of an ignorant citizen. Then it evolved into a philosophy, a dogma that anyone who opens up his/her mouth against him or any one who opposes him should be subjected to torture. No distinction is to be made between the children, the young, the old, the men, the women in this.

All the wealth of the Maldives is taken by dictator Gayyoom and is spent as he wishes. There is widespread corruption and fraud in the government and the bankruptcy of the Air Maldives Company, the national flag-carrier is just one example of it. He and his close friends and relatives has been abusing the power, wealth and all what they can, for their pleasure. The local media is under his control and no one else has been granted the rights of media and telecommunications. We have no freedom of expression, no freedom of speech and no freedom of media.

We call upon the world to listen to our cries and help us. We want someone to force him to stop all the atrocities and the abusing of power. We urge the international community to save us from this dictator.

It is your duty Messrs. Secretary General of UN, Commonwealth, OIC, and NATO to save us. Please do not ignore our cries!! Please help us!!!!!
