Al Sheikh Wal General

Shame on you, Sheiks!

DO Correspondent, 02st January 2004

I am outraged at the preaching of these so called Sheiks who are acting like regents of God. Who are these Sheiks, Mohamed Rasheed Ibrahim and Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa to preach us? While our society is full of corruption, injustice and lawlessness these self proclaimed regents of God not only dare to utter a word but collaborate with and cleanse the activities of their masters. Research the Deenuge Magu (or other religious literature in the Maldives) and u would be surprised.

Our religion most strongly calls us to reject oppression and injustice. This is the basis of our religion. However, these Sheiks don’t speak of these fundamental principles of our religion. All what they preach are the virtues of rituals none of us object to. After all what contributions these Sheiks have made to our society. Nothing but narrow mindedness, tribalism, arabization and despair.

Before our country is hijacked by these bearded mullahs and influx of Sheiks we had peace, solidarity and beautiful manners. Today we are a community of drug addicts, veiled woman and bearded men wearing knee high pants. There are more divisions in our society than commonalities. We are more spiritually weak, arrogant, corrupt and sick to unite in righteousness and despise the evil.

Today on our TV Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa started his preaching by saying God punishes those who do the evil and saves those who do the good. The preaching is beautiful but equally irrelevant and haunting. Is this Sheik gone made and lost faith to be so insensitive. This Sheik’s insensitive comments have made the many counsellors, who are doing a great job in rehabilitating the affected victims, irrelevant. What explanation can we give to young children who have lost their parents and brothers and friends? Telling them that God punished them because they are evil doers is nonsensical and, for the surviving adults too much to grieve, this assertion does no good either. Customarily, the Sheik cleansed the masters and elevated them to the highest of the high.

In a recent visit to Northern Atolls accompanied by the Atolls’ Minister on a propaganda tour immediately after the imprisonment of many respected men following the Black Friday Demonstration, this Sheik reminded the folks of the story of Gaarun. For the many of these islanders who received assistance from Gasim Ibrahim a good justification and a solace for their rage by the association.

Please despise these Sheiks whenever you see their face and run away with your children because they are nothing but crooked hypocrites. They don’t practice what they preach. Do some background research about these Sheiks and you will have every reason to go away from these Sheiks. They live in 5 star accommodations and have fat bank accounts while they preach us to be humble and devoid of worldly possession. Shame on you Sheiks
