Gayyoom lies to the people and goes shopping in Amman

Murderous Dictator in his military glamour

According to Petra, the official Jordanian News Agency, Ma'moun Abdul Qayyoum arrived Friday afternoon in Amman in a few-day official visit in which he will meet with His Majesty King Abdullah II. It also said President Abdul Qayyoum is expected to take part in an Islamic conference which is organized by Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Now let us look at the report on his website which proudly said that he will be inaugurating an International Conference in Amman. Gayyoom's official site said "The President departed for Jordan this morning, on the invitation of King Abdullah II. During his visit, the President will inaugurate an international conference in the Jordanian capital, Amman, from 27 to 29 November 2004." Please read the Press Release on  http://www.presidencymaldives.gov.mv/v3/pages/News.php3?NewsID=2653.

Upon Arrival the Maldivian president was officially received by Prime Minister Faisal Fayez, Minister of the Royal Court Sameer Rifai, Chief Islamic Justice and King's Advisor for Islamic Affairs Izzedin AL Khateeb Al Tameemi and a number of senior governmental officials.

One wonders, if he was on the Kings invitation, shouldn't he be received by the King or at least the Crown Prince. There wasn't a single Royal family member to receive him, which is perhaps an indication that this was not an official invitation.

Most political strategist and thinkers in Maldives believe that he is trying to buy some cheap arms from Jordan as well a shopping for a holiday palace there.

His Majesty King Abdulla has been working for reforming his country and is unlikely to be very forthcoming to Gayyoom's call for assitance in sustaining his dictatorship. Furthermore, he is a true Hashemite The_Hashemite_Lineage, related to Prophet Mohamed PBUH and hence is unlikely to support a brutal dictator like Gayyoom.

Almost all news agencies in Jordan as well as Al Jazeera have now been alerted with Gayyoom's propaganda and this visit and have been forwarded the information about his brutal dictatorship. He can expect call from them tomorrow. Mariyam Mohamed is currently in Jordan  following the trail of the dictator to report his activities there.
