THE GOVERNMENT EXPOSES ITSELF:

A professional photographer explains how the stabbing was staged

By NEMO - Friday, 20th August 2004

Thanks to the government propaganda website, The Maldivian uploading 10 images of the stabbing, a professional photographer has been able to determine that the action was a fully choreographed charade carried out by the government.

1) The camera angle: The camera was placed on one of the upper levels of the defense ministry's Shaheed Hussein Adam Building.

2) Lens: The images were taken using a telephoto lens, possibly a 200mm lens. Hence the shallow depth of field---note the subject is almost always in focus, but people in different planes, and the casuarina branch are out of focus. A 200mm lens achieving this level of sharpness of the subject means that a tripod was used.

3) Framing: The photographer clearly knew in advance who the object was. Note that the stabber is almost always in the centre of the frame. This clearly means that the event was staged in advance.

4) Common sense: The person hurrying the stabber away is not a member of MDP or anti-government protester, but a staff of STELCO. We know now that Yameen and NSS used STELCO staff to create unrest among the gathering.

I am disheartened that NSS can resort to stabbing its own officials to justify the violent rampage it orchestrated on the people of the Maldives.

But I thank The Maldivian for helping to expose this through its own stupidity.

Please continue to provide similar evidence.
