The (legitimate!) Government of Gayyoom has given extreme powers to certain people in return for being informants of the regime. It is common knowledge that Yameen, Gayyoom’s powerful brother and other supporters of the regime which include some prominent businessmen are doing everything they can to sustain this evil dictator.

We are publishing this information so that the public are aware of this and be alert to the activities of these people. If they think that their name should not be here, they should first of all think hard as to why it is here and why this information has been submitted to DO by members of the public.

DO will publish statements from any of these people if sent to us and leave it for the public to judge.

Gayyoom and his security personnel have no mercy and we do not want public to come to harm for expressing their views. Gayyoom might think that it is a religious right to believe in his propaganda and to submit to his dictatorship. However, majority of the people of Maldives are desperate to witness the demise of this tyranny.
