ONE RESORT, TWO ISLANDS, THREE LUXURIOUS EXPERIENCES
HOLDING STATEMENT: Resort Remains Unaffected
26 December 2004 – The Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa reports no disturbances to the luxury resort today.
"We experienced high water levels, rising to unusual heights at around 11am our time," says General Manager, Carsten Schieck, "The waves washed over part of our restaurant and brought some driftwood material onto our beaches, before subsiding again a few minutes later. None of our guests or staff have been affected. There have been no injuries, no damage to our property and the resort is fully operational. As soon as everyone at this resort was accounted for, we contacted neighbouring resorts to offer our assistance if required."
"As soon as we were aware of the high tide, we implemented the resort’s emergency procedures to ensure everyone on the two islands were safe."
"We offer our deepest sympathy and support to those who have been affected by these events."
